Product Description
Not your ordinary gun oil, this hard-to-find grease is a must-have for any successful AR-15 build.
Why not use ordinary grease or gun oil?
Your AR-15 uses screw threads to attach the Barrel Nut and Buffer Tube Castle Nut. While tightening, the thread surfaces slide against each other at high pressure. Even though the metal might look smooth to your eye, at a microscopic level there is a roughness. As these surfaces rub together, the metal can rip and tear (galling). The threads get gouged or possibly even stick together permanently (cold welding) making the threads impossible to separate without damaging one or both parts.
Aeroshell 64 is an extreme pressure (EP) grease which is specially formulated to prevent galling. With this grease in place, you will be able to easily assemble and disassemble your rifle with no thread binding, even after thousands of rounds and many weekends of abuse.
Under the extreme pressure of tightening the Barrel Nut or Castle Nut, ordinary liquid oils or greases get squeezed out and the parts touch each other, defeating the oil. And under the high temperature of firing your gun, greases can 'run' or evaporate.
How does it work?
Aeroshell 64 is a special blend of grease and molybdenum disulfide. The moly is a fine powder that bonds to the surface of the metal, so the moly rubs against itself rather than your gun's threads rubbing directly. And although the ordinary grease component may evaporate with the high heat of shooting your gun, the moly will stay behind.
AeroShell Grease 64 is an extreme pressure (EP) grease is based on lithium complex technology of AeroShell Grease 33, + 5% Molybdenum Disulphide.
AeroShell Grease 64 is the modern replacement for AeroShell 17 and AeroShell 33ms which were the original mil-spec barrel nut greases. More info can be found here.
- Prevents the Upper Receiver from welding itself to the Barrel Nut under the extreme heat and pressure of use
- Stays put under high temperatures
- Same grease used in airplane landing gear pivot pins
- Synthetic hydrocarbon/ester base oil
- Modern replacement for AeroShell Grease 17 and 33ms
- Fully approved to MIL-G-21164D

- Designed to prevent long term damages when threading dissimilar materials together
- Weight: 5g
- Dimensions: 27 x 27 x 20 mm (L x W x H)
You get:
- 1/8 oz of Grease in a 1/4 oz resealable container – enough for 4-5 builds
Compatible with:
- All AR-15/M16 barrels and upper receivers
- MIL-G-21164D requirements
Installation Difficulty:

Installation notes: You need to take your time and not make a mess with it during application, a little goes a long way. You can use a small brush from the dollar store or a Q tip.
Other notes: The product is repackaged by us into small plastic jars. The containers are a little oversized so expect some air inside the container. Contents may shift during shipping! We cannot offer guidance for aerospace use, but we can point you to AME's who can.
Difference between Aeroshell 33ms and Aeroshell 64? Our friends at Shell have renamed Aeroshell 33MS to Aeroshell 64. Why you say? It's because people were mistaking 33 for 33ms which is a BIG problem if you want things like your landing gear to meet manufacturers spec. So this ad and product is for the new Aeroshell 64 which is the new MIL-G-21164D compliant extreme pressure grease. See the picture section for a letter from Shell verifying these statements. Otherwise Aeroshell 33ms and 64 are the exact same stuff.

Good grease.
There is enough grease in the can for more than a few builds. Does the job well.
-
Nice grease
Well with the couple of bucks to protect my threads. |There's actually more in the container than I was expecting. Easily enough for 5 builds.
-
Thought I wouldn't have enough - Actually have more than enough
Amount looks small, but it lasts a long time. Did a whole build and I still have 3/4 of it left if not more.
-
May be worth the money, if only for the peach of mind
This is a thread lubricator.|Big deal! So are any number of common greases.|The only thing commending this is that you'll know you're using the right stuff.|A little dap 'll do ya, so it will last a long time.

Great Grease
1/8 oz may not seem like a lot but trust me, you've got enough for a least four builds in there. Unless you like to really goop it on there. I used just enough to fill the threads of my upper receiver as well as the threads on my barrel nut and I put a thin layer around the surface of the barrel and the inside of the upper receiver where they contact each other. Still had plenty left. This little spot of grease will go a long way.

Grease is grease !
Good price for a good amount of grease, really good.||You should have enough for a couple builds...
-
Yep, it's Aeroshell!
Not too much to say here, it's a small container of Aeroshell and it works excellent for permanently lubricating threads and springs. Stuff is hard to find in small quantities and you don't need much to get good results. From the tiny little container I probably used 1/6th of it while applying liberally during my AR build.

A little goes along ways
It may seem to be very little grease in the container but you don't need much for you ar build anyways so why have a large container of it. Perfect for doing several AR builds.
-
Perfect for Multiple Lube-Jobs
The container isn't very big, but there is more than enough grease to install half a dozen barrels, buffer tubes and more. It's good stuff.
-
Good Value and a Must For Your AR
This little container should last you two or three builds despite being so small, and is definitely necessary to ensure the threads on your buffer and barrel do no bind due to friction! ||And for the price you are really saving yourself alot of headaches down the road! Be sure to grab a few of these little containers.
-
It may not be a lot, but it's plenty.
Opening the little container and seeing the drop of goo inside makes you wonder if you have enough Aeroshell at first glance - and trust me, you do. More than enough to last you at least two or three AR builds, does what it needs to and it's cheap. ||Thanks TNA!
