Product Description
This is an improved magazine coupling concept. The couplers are built into the magazines, and they can be coupled together in different ways to give you the shape and orientation you want.
Price comparison showing how much cheaper a set of cross mags is (~$58) compared to two ASC or CPD mags with a separate Magwedge coupler (~$85).
The baseplate has a clever design that allows two magazines to be coupled end-to-end in four different configurations:
- Curved with bottom magazine facing forwards
- Curved with bottom magazine facing backwards
- Straight with bottom magazine facing forwards
- Straight with bottom magazine facing backwards
Depending how you flip your coupled-pair magazine when doing a quick mag change, you may end up with the fresh rounds pointing backwards. If that is the case then you simply couple in the other direction so that they always come up right.
As for curved or straight, that is another ergnomics factor that is unique to yourself, and the Cross Coupling mag set allows you to set up the coupled mags in either shape to suit your preference. In the curved configuration it is like a familiar 30-round magazine body; in the straight configuration it is, well, straight, like having a stick magazine.
Some plastic magazines are weaker than metal, they crack in the cold. These Cross Industries magazines are specially designed to perform in the frigid north: the plastic is specially formulated for cold-weather impact-resistance. Its unique properties allow very consistent performance from 73f/20c to -22f/-30c, whereas most polymer materials used for magazines have between .125-.25 the strength at -22f/-30c compared to room temperature. This provides 3x-8x better impact-resistance than competitive materials at -22f/-30c.
